racking my brain trying to find a place to mount this thing that can be only other than my bike.
check out this device we've looked up before. accel, btle, battery. its an awesome product and until i started to dig into it i didnt think it was that well made but its got some awesome features. calibration mode, the battery charging method is awesome, its got two little copper bumps on the bottom of the device and you hotshoe it into the charger so its 'plugless'. genius.
check out how they attach it to a bat:
and glove snap in clip:
its like a strap over the device as a holder. pretty smart and removable.
what about a stretchy system like that, almost like one of those trendy rubber livestrong bracelets, over the fork tube so it can be rotated or slid down.
or what about this. on my holeshot device, could have a quick disconnect device that screwed into or snapped into the fork clamp device.
ive got device sized measured and some enclosures but hung up on how to mount it. device is 2.040 x 1.050 x .540 pretty decently small. enclosure will have to be a bit bigger than that, wall thickness all the way around, cap, ect.

for proto, lets make a nice shape that can use the gas tank mount on bikes that have it, and just for now tape it to your bike...
great idea on the rubber mount, but thats def a 'later' deal

ok fair enough. is this just for us visually? if thats the case what do you think about buying a works connection mount bracket ( bet i can buy one if i say i lost mine ). and using that mounting bracket to mount to ours? will save a good amount of time and $ to use that bracket that i know works. however. i do have a guy making some mx parts for me right now pretty cheap, so if we wanted to do a diff flavor, it IS possible, maybe just a couple bucks more.
Justin Bernard on January 21, 2015:
making parts out of what. cnc? alum?
Taylor Bernard on January 21, 2015:
guy has a mill and a lathe. is making a lot of Ti stuff on the lathe and making those 3d printed parts i posted on the forum (hpsd bracket, frame headstay alum mount, and clutch spacer) out of alum.
Justin Bernard on January 21, 2015:
lets wait to cut it till parts come in maybe? be cool to make a neat looking proto alum box
did you ever pull the css learning stuff down i was mentioning
Taylor Bernard on January 21, 2015:
ok. possible to do alum but i dont know if BTLE will go thru it or not. dont see many metal enclosures.
the clear looks like a straight up legitimate clear. like crystal clear.
i'm going to mock up a ignition cover for the 500AF tonite and get half of it printed (local printer) to test fitment. i'll get him to test print this at the same time to make sure i didnt make some glaring error.
Justin Bernard on January 30, 2015:
thats clean, get it if we can get 2 for $60
just double make sure our parts fit before you print it
on color, what you think. clear clear means like plexi clear? dang. didnt know any 3d print could do that.
maybe off white and clear. clear could be neat for photos. your choice between blk or wht on the other one.
Taylor Bernard on January 30, 2015:
i can check, but im 90% sure will only be able to print both the same color. will have to re-setup machine print liquid to do another color, and doubtful will do that for as small as that part is.
Justin Bernard on January 30, 2015:
ah gotcha. you have a photo ref for the clear? for a prototype, it could be really neat, but id need to see it
mehhh.. yeah and no. making a little box out of cf wouldnt be hard at all. but that shape isnt anything close to what we would use for our device. so would look way diff.

another alternative is to make a positive out of alum. then use SmoothOn silicone or plastic, ect to make an enclosure.
