Stat next steps

Posted by Taylor Bernard on June 24, 2014

- analyze vibration data from accelerometer device bought
- determine if enough of a trigger to effectively use on bike
- source hardware configuration to replicate bought accelerometer
- get assistance on coding to find an algorithm to turn vibration intensity into frequency on arduino (called FFT)
- find smaller realtime clock device
- find smaller storage device/impelement EEPROM
- make custom pcb that incorporates accelerometer/arduino/data storage
- make custom housing

stat current stages.
- working accelerometer and arduino package
- need to find out how to translate accel 3 axis data into g force data for a threshold. will call guy tomorrow to try and get assistance on how best way to do this is

current size:

dang that looks nice compared to prior versions. dang.

Taylor Bernard on July 24, 2014:

yeh would be nice to put all on 1 board, double sided IC layout, would be dirty small

Justin Bernard on July 24, 2014:

will do that/have that done as soon as this one works for sure.

- working hardware, software hangup is using accelerometer that usually senses large axis movements to detect vibration.

will search for possible sketch that can modify for use, if still hung up possible other options:

+ try a piezo disc sensor + amp circuit that should have more code/projects available for vibration sensing vs the accelerometer

+ reach out for coding help, possibly from Gulf Coast Data Concepts guy, even though they dont use arduino platform, may can get some insight on how to tackle it.
