ok, ive found a way to not have to have any control surface/buttons on top. we can put them on a flat side, or better yet, a curved side. that should be able to take that whole 'bump' out of the last design.
but just using a plate on top of a plate is going to look pretty boring. need to add in some depth or other geometry. see anything you like in here for not being over the top?
