reached out to local (and the best) print designer i know in this area. mostly all they do is print, and they work with press people a toooon. this is her feedback"
Hey, sure you could get quotes with a couple of people in town... ranked most affordable to least affordable:
1) OnDemand Printing - best with the Indigo and only ones with an Indigo. They specialize in short runs but digital is all they have. http://www.ondemandink.com
The new Xerox digital that some of the printers use around here really sucks. I'd chose Indigo over it any day.
Sales Rep - Micah Crosson (owner)
2) Advantage Printing - they take small projects and have the Xerox but a few offset presses. Pro - affordable, do small runs, Con - not very detail oriented so you have to be on them like a hawk.
3) Daniels Graphics - most professional and qualified in town. They don't usually do small runs so they'd recommend their Xerox. You'd be better off printing 500 - 1,000 brochures with them as it would probably coast the same amount.
If you want to do an aqueous coating, just make sure you're using a coated sheet. We had a printer locally and not on my above list run aqueous coating on an uncoated sheet for us recently and without our permission, it really, really warped the paper and had to be re-printed. It will usually add $500 - 900 to the cost of the project.
Always avoid Clark Communications, Allegra, BP Solutions. I've experienced and heard nothing but horror stories with those places.

the #2 one she mentioned, advantage printing, thats who we used for brooks last year. she bad talks BP solutions, thats the one i went in and their shop is like 10x the size and the presses look like nasa compared to advantages setup, but i trust lisa, she knows her stuff and deals with this every day
she also has an individual in town with a lazer cutter thats done some paper stuff for her, but pretty sure he can do thin metal too.
